Kerrie Smith connecting online
Kerrie Smith connecting online

We trialled an online day of workshops on 18 June 2008, offering 4 sessions in Live Classroom and one in Second Life.  The places filled in a matter of hours as did a second day to handle the overflow.

The waiting list for more sessions currently tops 80.  Due to this demand, we will trial an ongoing series of workshops during the remainder of 2008 to determine whether these should be an addition to our regular offerings.

Live Classroom is an online web conferencing tool that integrates into the Moodle course management software that powers edna Groups.

It includes the ability for participants to listen to and speak in sessions as well as to participate in polls, text chat and video conferencing and file sharing.

Presenters can upload presentations, display videos, provide participants with tours of web sites and share their desktop to provide training on software.  As well, a white board allows for participation by others. Multiple presenters are accommodated for and sessions can be recorded and archived for later access.

The software does require that users download a client and update their version of Javascript.  As well, there are particular proxy settings that need to be set.

Please reference the support documents below for assistance in using Live Classroom as a participant or a presenter.
