Sea Ice Physics and Ecosystem eXperiment (SIPEX)
Schools from all over the world will be able to participate in the Sea Ice Physics and Ecosystem eXperiment taking place September-October 2007 and follow the adventures of 45 scientists, 2 Tasmanian school teachers and a stuffed
polar bear named Polar Knutsen (who will be the only polar bear in Antarctica living or otherwise).
We talk with Sandra Zircus, Communications Manager for the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Centre (ACE CRC) about this International Polar Year event and the online resources that will enable teachers and students to share in this expedition.
A special thank you to the students at Rosetta Primary School in Hobart for providing such great photos of Polar Knutsen for us to use.
