- Skill shortages in electrotechnology
- This report presents an overview of the electrotechnology industry and the industry sectors employing skilled electrotechnology tradespople. There is also a brief summary of key statistics, research findings,evidence identifying specific areas of skill shortage, and skill set needs for the electrotechnology. Findings are: a current shortage exists in electrotechnology; rapid changes in high technology areas are occurring; new apprenticeships do not fill the gaps in the demand for voice and data communications tradespeople; and employer investment in training remains low.

- The purpose of this demonstration was to develop and pilot a mobile phone based e-learning solution for the reporting and validation of the on-the-job training and work experience undertaken by electrical apprentices known as Profiling. This project integrated Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) technology and delivered learning and assessment materials via enabled mobile phones.
- Turning Point
- The Australian Flexible Learning Framework commissioned research into mobile learning as a new practice in flexible learning. The Turning Point Project involved: research into youth engagement with mobile learning, the production of film shot on a mobile device, the production of film for display on a mobile device, research into the different types of Bluetooth technology, research into the transfer of data to a range of mobile devices. - ElectroComms and energy utilities: Industry strategic skills statement for recruitment, skilling and retention. Final draft
- The purpose of this document is to review strategies that will ensure a skilled workforce into the future; and provide an integrated career path that encompasses recruitment, education, and retention of skilled workers. Findings include: the need to develop an industry workforce plan and program, a career structure, a communications strategy, and a recruitment and skilling framework. There is also a requirement to recruit industry practitioners for teaching or mentoring roles.
