e-News guidelines

Introduction

VET and ACE e-News features topical information and items of interest for the Vocational Education and Training (VET) and the Adult and Community Education (ACE) sectors. It promotes and publicises relevant edna projects and developments, news from our stakeholders and items recently added to the edna repository.

Target audience

This service is primarily aimed at stakeholders, training organisations, VET and ACE providers, educators and trainers.

Categories

Newsletter items for VET and ACE e-News are organised according to the following headings:

  • News and opportunities
  • Focus on industry
  • Recently added resources
  • Upcoming events

While the basic structure will be adhered to, other categories may be used when items, such as media releases supplied by stakeholders or other items from contributors, do not fit the above.

Methodology

Items in the newsletter will generally be selected from material already available on edna, either in the database, included in recent headlines or on the VET and ACE event calendar.

Items will be selected for their relevance to the VET and ACE sectors, and will aim to provide a balance of information from both sectors.

The Focus on industry section will include items other than training organisations, which broadly represent or advocate training related issues within the specified industry.

Inclusion of items in the newsletter does not signify endorsement by edna or education.au of any body, individual or organisation represented in the item's record. edna and education.au cannot be held responsible for the content included on external websites.

Organisations within the VET and ACE sectors are encouraged to make contributions that conform to the criteria below.

Criteria

As far as possible, material added to the newsletter will be:

  • freely available;
  • provided by reliable sources;
  • relevant and topical;
  • valuable to the education and training professions;
  • likely to impact on Australia's education and training;
  • useful to Australian educators/trainers in their work;
  • interesting to a range of readers;
  • useful in assisting subscribers to keep up to date;
  • wide-ranging in terms of places and perspectives.

The final inclusion of a suggested item is subject to a quality assurance and approval process. Commercial sites need to include sufficient quality 'free to use' content such as demonstration versions of software, lesson plans or other resources.

A selection of items will be included in the newsletter on the basis of their quality and relevance to the VET and ACE groups of subscribers.

Publication frequency

VET and ACE e-News is produced fortnightly and is available on the edna website. A plain text version is emailed to subscribers. The newsletter is also available through RSS.
