  • Developing Innovation Skills: a guide for trainers and assessors to foster the innovation skills of learners through professional practice
    • This facilitator guide is designed for trainers in the Vocational Education and Training(VET) system where they can play an important role in fostering innovation and creativity. This guide aims to assist trainers to embed innovation skills development into their training methodology.
  • Scoping skills for sustainability
    • State and Territory Ministers responsible for vocational education and training signed on to a new National Green Skills Agreement aimed at ensuring Australia's VET system delivers skills to contribute to a sustainable, low carbon economy in their workplaces and communities. Under the terms of this Agreement, training packages are reviewed and updated to include sustainability knowledge, skills and principles; and VET instructors and teachers are going to have to upgrade and deliver skills for sustainability. In this paper, the Innovation and Business Skills Australia's (IBSA) report on their training packages in relation to sustainability, and includes a matrix listing units and their potential for enhancement.
  • Escan 2010: IBSA 's environmental scan
    • The key objective of the Innovation and Business Skills Australia's (IBSA) Escan is to identify skills needs and workforce development priorities for Australia?s innovation and business industries. They point out the future interconnectedness of all industries, and emphasise the need for closer connections between ICT, business, creativity, and design capabilities. The VET system has roles in delivering high quality, flexible training; clear pathways into industry and higher education; generating on successful outcomes for the learner/employer; responding to individual business needs; and increasing skill development in the areas of literacy, numeracy and basic business skills. Chapters are: industry intelligence; identified workforce development needs; current impact and usage of training packages; and future directions for training packages.
  • Australian workforce futures: a national workforce development strategy
    • This paper addresses Australia's workforce threats and opportunities including global change (climate change, new technology), demographic change, economic performance and social inequality. Australia needs a workforce in which more people have skills, but also multiple and higher level skills and qualifications. It stresses the importance of increasing adult language, literacy and numeracy to enable effective educational, labour market and social participation. A matrix is included with visions, objectives, actions, and success indicators. Chapters are: meeting Australia's future skills and workforce demands; raising workforce participation; improving adult language, literacy and numeracy skills; better using skills to increase productivity; enhancing capability of the tertiary educator sector; and creating a shared agenda on workforce futures.
