High school students interested in student exchange to Japan should apply now for the AIIU Academic Year Scholarship Program . Qualifying students will attend a high school in Japan for 10 months whilst living with volunteer Japanese families.  Scholarships, currently valued at approximately $6000 - $9000 are available and are made possible through the cooperation of AIIU and the Japan Foundation for Intercultural Exchange. In 2010 successful applicants for the 10 month Scholarship Program pay only $5000 which covers all program expenses, travel and insurance costs.

Who can apply?

The Student Exchange Program is for highly motivated students who will become cultural ambassadors for Australia. Applicants must have:

• achieved average or above grades
• studied Japanese for a minimum of 1 year
• completed grade 9,10,11 or 12* in the year previous to their Student Exchange and have turned 15 prior to departure (*Due to Department of Education Regulations in VIC & ACT, students who are currently completing year 12 in these states are not elligible to apply)
  
• *Students in QLD, NSW, VIC, TAS, NT, WA currently completing Yr 12 are only  eligible for the March Program.
