School teacher takes out Eureka prize

A Melbourne school teacher has taken out one of the major sections of the Australian Museum's Eureka prizes.
The awards were announced at Randwick Racecourse in Sydney tonight.
The head of science at St Leonard's College, Ranjith Dediwalage, and 30 of his colleagues from seven other schools, took a total of 800 students snorkelling in Port Phillip.
The bay became an outdoor classroom and the students' findings are being used by Melbourne Water, an energy company and two local councils.
