Industry Experience day for teachers and careers advisors -

Professional Game Development and 3D animation workshop
A one day industry experience program for teachers

The availability of careers in the animation and games space is increasing rapidly with 3D animation skills now being employed in architecture, simulation, town planning, web development, defence and advertising as well as the more ‘traditional’ areas of video game development, animation and visual effects.  At the same time, more teachers are now using commercial computer games in their classrooms and the opportunities to use 3D software packages as an engaging educational tool are expanding.

This one day program provides a chance for Victorian teachers to experience first-hand what it takes to work in a professional game development studio and provides hands-on experience in how to develop digital content used in games.

Guided by industry veteran trainers from the Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) teachers will create their own 3D animation plus a digital object (environment asset) for a game level,

Discussion topics will include:

  • the size and nature of the games and 3D animation industry
  • career options and pathways
  • professional game design, and
  • game development and animation processes

Workshops:

  • Game Development
  • 3D animation using Maya

Teachers will use the same software that industry uses and take away a copy of the 3D animation and environment asset they create, together with tutorial guides for developing a complete set of game assets.
