Violence Against Women in Melanesia and East Timor AusAID’s Office of Development Effectiveness has assessed the effectiveness of methods currently being used to address violence against women in Fiji, PNG, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and East Timor. Development For All Strategy Launched Parliamentary Secretary for International Development Assistance, Bob McMullan, has launched Australia’s first strategy to guide the country’s aid program in supporting people with a disability in the developing world. On November 19 Parliamentary Secretary for International Development, Bob McMullan launched a public exhibition of 100 toilets to raise awareness of sanitation issues in the Asia Pacific. Australia-Indonesia Disaster Reduction Facility Launched The Australian and Indonesian governments have agreed to establish a disaster reduction facility which will support regional efforts to reduce the impact of disasters. Australia-Indonesia Ministerial Forum 2008 The 9th Australia-Indonesia Ministerial Forum, held in Canberra on November 11 and 12, is the culmination of a productive year of engagement between Australia and Indonesia. Concrete Outcomes from PNG Visit A recent visit to PNG by Parliamentary Secretary for International Development, Bob McMullan, will help both countries get to work on delivering the Pacific Partnership for Development. PNG Capacity Development Showcase The AusAID Capacity Development Showcase in Port Moresby on November 13 included a specific focus on recent capacity development work in PNG.
